Above the Town from Pinnacle

Updated: Apr 15, 2018

1. Are you talking about Gothic architecture?

Yeshi: Umhhh, maybe the name was inspired from it, but right now I'm talking about the Pinnacle@Duxton haha. It's an HDB.

2. What was your first impression about this building?

Yeshi: Unique, tall and modern. I didn't expect that it was an HDB the very first time I saw it.

3. What did you do there?

Yeshi: We bought tickets( it costs 6 SGD) and went to the 50th floor to do some rooftop photography.

4. What is the best time to go there?

Yeshi: I would say at dusk. You can enjoy the sunset there and wait till the night falls and enjoy the night view of the cities. If you go there at noon, I am afraid you will get burnt.

Christine: I agree with Yeshi, dusk is best to catch a glimpse of the sunset. At night, the place is a great place to just sit and look at the city lights and enjoy the breeze. I highly recommend sitting on the mushroom-like seats.

5. How long did you stay there?

Yeshi: About 2 hours, maybe. We took some photos, walked around and chatted while sitting on the 'big mushroom'.

6. Did you take photos of the town?

Yeshi: Ya, just be careful and hold your phone/camera well.

Christine: The viewing deck is actually rimmed by another deck, so it's not directly the edge of the building when you look out.

7. Will you recommend a second visit?

Yeshi: Of course! Actually I revisited this place several times already. This should be one of my favorite places in SG. And I also introduced it to my friends who asked about what to do in SG.

Christine: It's one of the places I also recommend to most of my friends who visit as tourists because for 6 SGD, the view and environment is a good steal. It's a pretty good place to take your date to. They close at 9:00 pm though so be careful not to get locked in.

8. What's your favorite photo that day?

Yeshi: This combination of the three of us sitting on the 'Big Mushroom'. We took this during the sunset, and actually there were some other people around. Hope we didn't bother them haha.

9. Did you explore the places nearby?

Yeshi: Yes! When we arrived, it was still too hot to go the rooftop. Then Mabel recognized that it was near the route she goes running and there was an interesting neighborhood around.

Christine: The houses around Everton Road are simply beautiful! All the properties there have preserved the Peranakan architecture common of shophouses during the olden days in Singapore. But be mindful of taking photos as they're all private property and some owners may see it as an invasion to their privacy.

10. What happened?

Yeshi: Well, I am afraid of cats also, sometimes, not always.
