A Hidden Park in Marina East

Updated: Apr 22, 2018

1. Why did you go out that day?

Christine: Because we love going out, and it was also my birthday that day!

2. You girls don't seem to have any work on weekends?

Christine: Oh we do, we just always make time for what we love doing - eating & exploring. Sometimes that means cramming on the weekdays lol.

Yeshi: Actually we go back for our cells every weekend. They need us, we need them lol.

3. Where did you eat that day?

Christine: We satisfied our crepe cravings at Entre-Nous Creperie! We also tried their escargot! The food was really nice and though the restaurant was small, the ambience was great since it's tucked in a quiet side street. I don't think they accept reservations so be ready to cue and be warned they only accept cash (at least when we went there). It's right beside the Mint Museum of Toys as well, if you're into that.

Yeshi: I've wanted to eat crepes in French style for a long time! This is my first time eating escargots. My only impression about this dish is the article in New Concept English3, lesson 23-One Man's Meat is Another Man's Poison.

4. But Marina East Park was your main purpose?

Christine: We rarely have just one purpose when we go out! It has to be two at least - food & place. Anyway, Yeshi suggested that destination when she saw the photo of the man-made spit (I'm talking about a landform and not saliva) in that area. It's also known as the Bay East Garden.

5. How do you get there?

Christine: You can walk from Bayfront MRT, or get down the Marina Barrage bus stop directly. From there, you just cross Marina Barrage (i.e. the bridge you will see there). You can see the entire Marina Bay view while crossing.

6. What's there to see?

Christine: It's basically a sea-side garden park. If you walk to the end and reach the spit, that area is really great for just sitting in the late afternoon and watching the sunset with a view of Singapore's popular skyline. Check out the "giraffes" peeking as usual at all of Singapore's coastal areas.

7. Were there a lot of people?

Christine: That park is not that popular yet so it was awesome! Not a fan of places with too much people and extremely fond of all "hidden" areas.

8. Did you do anything else that day?

Christine: We went to the ArtScience Museum to catch the 10th anniversary screening of Gone Shopping. It's a Singaporean film which examined the nation's alleged obsession to shopping. It was a great artistic commentary to society.

9. Was the screening free?

Christine: It was! ArtScience Museum hosts a lot of free events and you can follow them in Facebook to get notifications! It's my favorite museum in Singapore.

10. No big party on your birthday?

Christine: I'm not into birthday fanfares.

Yeshi: We ate a piece of cheesecake in the cafe inside ArtScience Museum.
