Tama-Go Walk's Birthdate

Updated: Jul 22, 2018

1. How did your website start?

Yeshi: I was curious about what Christine was doing while she was making a website for Swati's wedding. Then we came up with the idea of running a website together during a random breakfast in TechnoEdge (our school canteen).

Christine: It started as a friendship project to put the massive amount of photos we've accumulated together into some platform. With a few weeks of brainstorming, we came up with this idea. Read more about us on our author's page (we worked hard on that).

2. How did you decide on the style of TamaGo Walks?

Yeshi: We always explore Singapore on weekends (well, sometimes on weekdays, after lab). And we wanted to mark down the places we went and for others to read them as well, but in a more interesting way rather than just a normal blog. Finally we decided to use this Q&A format with photos we took containing our illustrations.

Christine: We wanted something different and easy to read.

3. What's behind the name?

Yeshi: We wanted to include egg in the name, because both of us like eating eggs. Plus we also like Japanese food and we ended up with TamaGo Walks.

Christine: The "go" at the end of Tamago was perfect. We are aware that tamago strictly refers to a certain type of Japanese rolled omelette though. But please indulge us.

4. Why there are two hats on TamaGo Walks?

Yeshi: Because we always wear these two hats when we hang out!

Christine: Aren't they cute?

5. Where was TamaGo Walks born?

Yeshi: Haha, in a coffee shop! One Man Coffee.

Christine: They open quite early (9 am) and had good reviews, that's why I chose that place.

6. How do you divide the work in TamaGo Walks?

Yeshi: Each of us will be the main author of each post (for the illustrations and the content), while the other one will help by adding some answers to the Q&A part.

Christine: We also make videos alternately - we both have Youtube channels: (Christine's & Yeshi's). Yeshi is the main art director while I handle the content editing, web layout and most of the social media marketing (bad at marketing though because I'm really an introvert).

7. Any explorations after the coffee shop?

Yeshi: We went to MacRitchie Reservoir nearby. It was humid as usual and we sweated a lot.

Christine: It started raining unfortunately so we had to cut the day short.

8. What's in MacRitchie Reservoir?

Yeshi: We found many teenagers playing water sports there - like kayaking. And some cute turtles in the water~

Christine: There's a lot of entrances to the reservoir, if you go the Venus Drive carpark one, you can reach the famous Treetop Walk from there. It's a suspension bridge among trees - a very mild thrill in my opinion, but hey at least there's such a thing in this small island.

9. What's Yeshi doing in the photo below?

Yeshi: She is on her '行万里路系列‘ project. Taking photos from the top of her shoes with pretty floor.

Christine: Aww, I drew that on the envelope of a letter I sent to Yeshi some time ago. She loves taking those feet-floor photos.

10. What's did you eat on TamaGo's Birth date?

Yeshi: No doubt EGGs!

Christine: You heard (read) her right.
